JOB POSTING: Family Room Family Services Representative (Relief)

RMHC Manitoba supports the health and well-being of children by providing a “home-away-from-home” and other services for critically ill, chronically ill, and seriously injured children and their families. Our programs include Ronald McDonald House, which provides accommodations for out-of-town families, and Ronald McDonald Family Room, a place of respite for both Winnipeg and rural Manitoba families inside HSC Children’s Hospital.

Ronald McDonald Family Room is currently inviting applications for a Family Room Family Services Representative (Relief). Employment start date will be October 17, 2022 at the Ronald McDonald Family Room program at HSC Children’s Hospital.

Shift times could include weekday or weekend. Shifts will be confirmed as needed. Flexibility to fill in open shifts on an as-needed basis would be an asset.

The Family Room Family Services Representative for RMHC Manitoba is responsible for assisting with family services during assigned shifts, including weekends, helping to ensure and facilitate the smooth and caring delivery of RMHC services and programming for Family Room guests.

Primary job responsibilities include interacting with Family Room guests, monitoring the space, housekeeping and administrative duties, volunteer management, and programming support.

The Family Room Family Services Representative reports to the Family Room Manager.

The successful applicants must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The candidates must exude a caring, positive attitude and be a team player willing to help wherever needed.

Successful candidates must provide a current and clear (less than 3 months) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry Check with Vulnerable Sector Check. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (as per Manitoba Public Health, this is defined as two doses with booster when eligible).

General Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and register guests
  • Communicate and collaborate with hospital partners, staff, and volunteers
  • Provide tours, orientation, and training as required
  • Monitor space for safety, report matters of concern
  • Cleaning duties, including laundry as needed
  • Ensure COVID-19 cleaning and sanitizing protocols are followed
  • Monitor and stock supplies
  • Support and implement monthly programming activities
  • Support delivery of our mobile coffee cart program, Cart With a Heart
  • Administration duties: maintain records, data entry, compile stats
  • Assist with other reasonable duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Passion for the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities Manitoba
  • Grade 12 education preferred
  • Energetic person with proven skills in customer service and attention to detail
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Calm and caring manner through crisis with a desire to serve others
  • Computer skills with some proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in the hospitality sector an asset

Starting Hourly Wage: $14.00

Our programs include Ronald McDonald House, which provides accommodations for out-of-town families, and Ronald McDonald Family Room, a place of respite for both Winnipeg and rural Manitoba families inside HSC Children’s Hospital.

Ronald McDonald House is currently inviting applications for a part-time Family Services Associate.

Shift time: Saturday and Sunday 4 p.m. to midnight. Shift may be weekly or bi-weekly and may be subject to change. Flexibility to fill in open shifts, on an as-needed basis, would be an asset.

The part-time Family Services Associate oversees the day-to-day operations of Ronald McDonald House. This individual will be required to provide a compassionate guest experience, at all times, for all families requiring our support.

The successful applicants must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively. The Family Services Associate should be adaptable and feel comfortable interacting with families from diverse backgrounds. The part-time positions are involved in House operations and also serves as a resource to families, social workers, hospital staff, and RMHC staff. The candidate must exude a caring, positive attitude and be a team player willing to help wherever needed.

  • Support housekeeping team, as needed, by cleaning common areas and bedrooms
  • Engage and motivate House volunteers
  • Participate in the implementation of family-based programs
  • Provide House tours to families

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong relationship building skills

  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Experience in the hospitality sector an asset

Starting Hourly Wage: $14.00
